In 2011, he wrote, recorded, and produced his very first song, Forever and Always”. In November 2013, Tamo J fully produced his first 8-track EP, "Eccentric,” in his bedroom. This was well received and set the path for Tamo J. In 2014, TamoJ met and began working with the legendary producer and songwriter Mikey Bennett. This led to several opportunities, and Tamo J has since worked on projects for Rainforest Seafood’s, Walker’s Wood Seasoning, Lasco, Red Stripe, Puma, and Grace Kennedy."

The singer has also explored vocal production and has written for acts such as Denyque, Kranium, Sean Paul, Singer J, and Vanessa Bling, to name a few. In 2017, “Life Too Short was released on the Bitter Bush Riddim compilation, produced by One Army Entertainment. The song catapulted Tamo J into the dancehall space and became a popular track with radio play all over the world, earning him respect as an artist to watch. In March 2018, Tamo J won the song competition “Songs of the UK in JA”, hosted by the British High Commission and Jamaica National Bank. Tamo J later released a music video for his afrobeat/dancehall-infused single “Oh Mama”, produced by Z4 Productions.
